PVC pipe can be divided into soft PVC and rigid PVC. Rigid PVC accounted for about 2/3

of the market, soft PVC accounted for about 1/3 of the market.  Soft PVC pipes are

commonly used for floor, ceiling and leather surfaces, But because soft PVC contains

plasticizers (which is also the difference between soft PVC and rigid PVC) , its physical

properties are poor (for example, pipes that need to withstand a certain amount of water

pressure) , soft PVC is not suitable for use) , so its scope of use is limited.

Rigid PVC does not contain plasticizer, so it is easy to form and has good physical

properties, so it has great development and application value. Several additives, such as

stabilizers and plasticizers, must be added to polyvinyl chloride materials. If all the use of

environmental additives, PVC pipe is non-toxic, tasteless and environmentally friendly

products. Here are the advantages and disadvantages：

1. Advantages of PVC pipe:

(1) Good tensile and compressive strength: but not as flexible as other plastic pipes.

(2) PVC pipe low fluid resistance: PVC pipe wall is very smooth, almost no fluid resistance.

The roughness coefficient is only 0.009. Its water carrying capacity is 20% higher than that

of cast iron pipe of the same diameter and 40% higher than that of concrete pipe.

(3) Excellent corrosion and chemical resistance: PVC pipes have excellent acid resistance,

alkali resistance and corrosion resistance, not affected by wet water and soil pH. No

anticorrosion treatment is needed when laying pipes.

(4) With good water tightness: PVC pipe installation, whether through the bonding or rubber

ring connection, have good water tightness.

(5) Bite-proof: PVC tubing is not a source of nutrients and therefore does not corrode by

rodents. According to a test conducted by the National Institutes of Health in Michigan, rats

do not bite PVC pipes.

(6) Performance Testing: curing time, shrinkage, splitting strength, tensile properties, peel

strength, thermal stability, shelf life, storage life, release of hazardous substances.

2. Disadvantages of PVC pipes:

(1) Not suitable for hot water pipe, not suitable for direct drinking water pipe.

(2) PVC pipe is easy to embrittlement when it is impacted

(3) Some low-quality PVC pipe in the production of counterfeit added plasticizer, will cause

medium pollution, greatly shorten the aging time of PVC pipe.
