The experimental data shows that when the content of oxidized polyethylene wax modifier increases from 0 to 20%, the softening point of asphalt increases, the penetration decreases, the low-temperature ductility increases, the scalability becomes better, and the elastic recovery is improved. The effect is very significant, and the high and low temperature properties are significantly improved.
2. Application of polyethylene wax in asphalt modification
The addition of polyethylene wax in asphalt modification can significantly improve the high temperature performance of asphalt materials, but it has a certain degree of adverse effect on the low temperature performance of asphalt. At the same time, it can significantly reduce the viscosity of asphalt, improve the rheological properties of asphalt, and has a good effect on reducing the asphalt mixing temperature and improving the asphalt mixing construction under low temperature conditions.
(1) In the experiment of the influence of the amount of polyethylene wax on the basic properties of different base asphalt, the softening point of asphalt materials increases gradually with the increase of the amount of polyethylene wax, which indicates that the addition of polyethylene wax can significantly improve the high-temperature performance of asphalt materials; The penetration and ductility decreased gradually, which indicated that the addition of polyethylene wax would adversely affect the temperature sensitivity and low-temperature performance of asphalt materials.
