At present, the quality of polyethylene wax products in the domestic market is uneven, and many low-end polyethylene wax products have many quality defects, mainly including the following aspects:
(1) The melting point range greatly exceeds the standard. Some polyethylene waxes have a low initial melting point and are prone to clumping in summer. This wax significantly affects the mixing cycle of the master batch, greatly shortening the mixing time, thereby reducing the activation effect of pigments and other powder materials, and is not conducive to the effective dissipation of water during the mixing process.
(2) The lubrication effect is significantly lower than that of normal polyethylene wax, therefore the flowability of the produced masterbatch is relatively poor.
(3) Compared with normal pe wax, the surface brightness of the masterbatch processed with low-grade polyethylene wax is lower.
(4) The odor is not good, which affects the sensory quality of the masterbatch. This is generally caused by the addition of low-quality fatty acids or oil like substances.
(5) This type of wax has a high content of low molecular weight substances, which are prone to precipitation and often seriously affect the appearance of dark masterbatches. For example, black or dark masterbatches may have a noticeable gray or even white surface.
(6) Some low-end polyethylene waxes have fewer true polyethylene wax components, and their dispersion performance is relatively poor when used as dispersants, which often has a negative impact on the dispersibility of the masterbatch.
(7) There are many impurities in some low-quality polyethylene waxes, and even obvious residues remain after combustion. Adding to the masterbatch will inevitably affect its processing performance (such as frequent mesh changes during extrusion granulation).
(8) Due to the presence of many low molecular weight substances, a large amount of volatile compounds are often generated during high-temperature processing, which affects the production environment of the masterbatch and subsequent products.
(9) Excessive introduction of low molecular weight substances in polyethylene wax into subsequent products can have significant adverse effects on the production process of extrusion molding, such as frequent accumulation of material at the mold mouth, which can have a negative impact on the appearance of plastic products.
