When polyethylene wax is used for water-based ink, it is usually used to make lotion by adding emulsifier or disperse it into acrylic resin. Oxidized polyethylene wax improves its hydrophilicity to some extent. Adding wax lotion to water-based ink can reduce the length of the ink head in the packaging, the pigment settling and caking, and the thickness of the ink film.
Ink is a uniform mixture of colored bodies(Such as organic pigments, dyes and other solid components), binders(Vegetable oil, resin or water, solvent, i.e. liquid component in ink), fillers, additives(plasticizer, desiccant, surfactant, dispersant) and other substances;
Classification of printing ink
There are mainly resin based ink, solvent based ink, water-based ink and UV curing ink.
1. Resin based ink

Manufacturing process
The manufacturing process of printing ink can be divided into two stages: stirring pre dispersion and grinding fine dispersion. The former mixes the prepared pigment and binder into a paste in a container; The latter still needs to be grinded and finely dispersed in the stirred slurry to overcome the cohesion of the pigment with greater mechanical pressure and shear force, and finally become the suspended colloidal ink.
The function of polyethylene wax in ink
1. Adding 1% – 3% polyethylene wax to the ink can change the fluidity of the ink and reduce the viscosity of the system;
2. It can improve the smoothness, abrasion resistance and scratch resistance of the ink; Improve pigment dispersion.
3. It can also improve the hydrophilicity, speed up the fixation, and make the print dot complete;
4. At the same time, the disadvantages of caking, roughening and rubbing dirt are reduced; The printing performance of the ink is improved;
5. Polyethylene wax can be dispersed by organic solvent, emulsified by water and made into fine powder wax with proper particle size
