PE wax is widely used in the processing of color masterbatch. The purpose of adding polyethylene wax is not only to change the processing performance of the color master batch system, but more importantly, to promote the dispersion of pigments in the color master batch. The dispersion of pigments is crucial for color masterbatch, and the quality of the masterbatch mainly depends on the dispersion status of the pigments. Good dispersion of pigments, high coloring power of color masterbatch, good coloring quality of products, and low cost. Polyethylene wax can improve the dispersion level of pigments to a certain extent and is a common dispersant in the production of color masterbatch.

(1) Higher thermal stability polyethylene wax has better thermal stability because if the wax material vaporizes, it will have a negative impact on the color masterbatch and products. Some arbitrary substances, such as paraffin, undergo thermal weight loss tests at 200 ℃, and paraffin loses 10% of weight within 4 minutes, while the weight loss reaches more than 20% after 10 minutes. Therefore, some cheap polyethylene will add low molecular weight substances such as paraffin, It will have a certain impact on the quality of color masterbatch and subsequent product processing.

(2) By conducting dispersion tests on polyethylene wax with different molecular weights, the pigment separation ability of the wax gradually improves with the increase of molecular weight. For the production process of color masterbatch, it is more appropriate to choose polyethylene wax with a molecular weight of 3000.
(3) A narrower molecular weight distribution has a certain impact on the dispersibility of polyethylene wax, and a wax with a narrower molecular weight distribution has better dispersibility compared to a wax with a wider molecular weight distribution.

Polyethylene wax has good compatibility with pigments, is easy to wet pigments, and can penetrate into the internal pores of pigment aggregates, weaken cohesion, and make pigment aggregates more easily broken under external shear force. Newly generated particles can also be quickly wetted and protected, making it a dispersant for various thermoplastic resin masterbatches and a lubricating dispersant for filling and degrading masterbatches. In addition, polyethylene wax can also reduce the viscosity of the system and improve fluidity. Therefore, adding polyethylene wax in the production of color masterbatch can improve production efficiency and yield, and stabilize dispersion effect.
