Eva Wax (hot melt adhesive) has a wide range of applicability, such as PA (polypropylene) ,

PE (polyethylene) and other non-polar materials, but also can achieve a good bonding effect.

The adhesive layer has good low temperature resistance, water resistance and moisture

resistance.

Because EVA wax (hot melt adhesive) has poor rigidity, it has lower softening point than

polyester and polyamide hot melt adhesive, and its global softening point is about 100 °C, so

its application range is limited.

Eva Wax (hot melt adhesive) is composed of Eva resin, tackifying resin, wax and stabilizer.

Eva resin introduced short branched chains composed of polar acetic acid genes into

ethylene branched chains, which disturbed the original crystalline state, made EVA tend to

“Plasticizing effect”, and reduced the crystallinity of ethylene in the branched chains,

increase the distance between the polymer chains, making EVA resin more flexible and

elastic.

The content of VA in Eva resin can be from low to high percentage. Therefore, the

percentage of VA and MI (melting index, reflecting the molecular weight) in the resin are the

most important factors that directly determine and influence the properties of Eva.

Generally, Eva content is high, adhesive strength is increased, the wettability of the adhesive

material is good, curing time is slow, heat resistance is decreased. The melting index is high,

which means low molecular weight, low viscosity, good wettability, low heat resistance,

constant adhesion.

In ethylene-based copolymers, Eva has higher tensile strength than EEA (ethylene-Ethyl

acrylate) , EAA (ethylene-propylene ester) and EMA (ethylene-propylene ester) , and it

varies with the content of VA.If the Mi of EVA is different, the change of breaking tensile

strength is more.

The tensile strength of EVA wax decreases with the increase of VA content, and becomes

very small when VA content is more than 25% .

The flexural rigidity of EVA is similar to that of soft PVC. It decreases with the increase of

VA, With the increase of MI, the bending rigidity decreases.

Eva resin has a good compatibility, it can be mixed with other kinds of resin to improve

physical properties. If Eva resin and nitrocellulose are mixed, nitrocellulose has excellent f

lexibility, friction resistance and heat-sealing.

Rigid PVC mixed with 5% ~ 10% EVA improved the fluidity and improved the impact

resistance. Eva blended into Polyamide resin has good flexure resistance and stain resistance

at low temperature.
